32 has been such a strange age because what am I supposed to be doing in terms of hobbies? What should I know about myself and my interests? How do I find those things out? I feel like I should have a better handle on some of my favorite things: color, drink, scent, animal, movie, artist, etc. I should have a baseline of who I am, but when I was asked what my favorite animal was, I didn't have an answer. We're going to spend this series figuring those things out in a new side series starting soon!
That being said, I did a handful of things this week that I have been dying to do that feel very me at the core and then branch into something a little different to give my week some variety.
On Tuesday, I saw Hokum at the Alamo Drafthouse in Wrigleyville. While going to the movies is inherently one of my favorite past-times, I decided to up the experience by commuting to a new theater on the north side and I loved it. The food was delicious, it was easy to get to, I would make the trip 100 more times! Hokum was also a phenomenal movie. I have it 4.5 out of 5 stars on my Letterboxd.
Friday night I went to the White Sox game because they had editions of Liz Thomforde's Windy City series, which I'm not familiar with, but her newest title had White Sox sprayed edges and they're so cool. I love baseball and books, so this wasn't too out of the norm, but we actually stayed and watched the whole game where typically we'll traipse around the park and eat. It's fun to get into sports more and have a team to learn about and cheer for, so I've figured out I'm a baseball girl for sure.
Saturday was Indie Bookstore Day, so Jorge and I went to Bookies in Chicago where I picked up two books and they gave us this very cool map of independent bookstores in the Midwest. I'd like to frame it and hang it up. Next year, I definitely want to do either the trolley or bus ride through Chicago to hit more bookstores, but this was a lot of fun.
Saturday night we went to Skeleton Key Brewery in Woodridge because they were hosting a Halfway to Halloween craft show. One of the things I want to get into is figuring out what kind of booze I like, and I think breweries/flights are a good path into beer discovery. I'd also like to hit up a winery or cidery to do the same. Cider seems to be my go-to, I like the taste of it the best, but I could be a beer girl if I could find the right one.
Sunday, I received my new Stitch Fix box. They've been super helpful in figuring out my style and I received a couple of really nice pieces (there is a pair of jeans at the beginning that are cropped out):
