Slow Days & Self Care ◦ Week Eight

Hi! Welcome to week eight of changing my life in a year. We're officially two months in. <3

Book of the Week is kind of a carry-over from last week as I've been in a smidge of a reading slump because I'm not enthralled with either book I'm reading. I have Beach Thriller by Jamie Day for my work's book club and First Time Caller by BK Borison. Someday I'll finish them but also don't be surprised if you see them on next week's update.

I have my weeks a little skewed because this was the week I went to my library book club, which I previously posted about, and I'm interested in going to the next one + finding other ways to participate in my community. I have been looking into tennis at the park district and a few of the girls from book club also attend the library's knitting club, and while I crochet, I hope they'll let me in!

Snack of the week is mango slices. I bought a gigantic bag of gummy slices made from real mango pieces and followed up with dried mango jerky from Target. They're both pretty expensive, though, I'd like for one bag of jerky to not cost $13.99.

I went to the movies to see Undertone this week with a couple of friends, and it feels healthy to be intentional with making plans to get myself out of the house during the week. I thought the movie was a lot of fun and I can't wait to see what he does with Paranormal Activity. It's hard to see friends during the week while trying to keep a routine. I find the structure of going into the office to be so beneficial for my mental health, but at the cost of my social life as opposed to working completely remote, which came with some time flexibility and being less sleepy. I'm content with the flow of my week right now. You'll see in an upcoming week that coming off of my schedule is detrimental for me.

This is a little thing from this week: planting the seed and letting it grow with time, if you will. Through my insurance I receive a free magazine subscription, and I chose Architectural Digest because I'm looking to move in the foreseeable future and I'm planning on utilizing this free resource to curate a space I love.

Two self-care things this week. I went for a haircut and I love it + the girl who cuts my hair. She told me we were meant to find each other. <3 I think we're very similar, but she's also somebody I want to be more like. She's chill, smart, and has great taste in music and movies. She just trimmed it, tightening up my bangs and curls, and I love it a lot.
I also spent an evening at Marshalls perusing new skin care products and I picked up products that promise 'glass skin.' One of them also includes niacinamide, which is supposed to be helpful for my bright red cheeks. I'm really pleased with all of the products so far!
