It's really good to be back here instead of on Substack, like a welcome home of sorts. I'm trying to alternate life and book content whilst in the process of changing my life this year and hanging onto the hook of being a certified book girl.
February was my first full month in the realm of lifestyle changes and updates. Because I share weekly, this is going to be more of a summation of where we are leaving the month in the areas that I'm tracking progress in and have goals set in for the year. My three biggest goals for the year are: read everything I physically own that I haven't read yet, lose some weight, and pay off all of my credit cards. Those will be the topics I cover monthly in these recaps.
You can find my bookstagram here!
Let's Start With Books
In February I read four books:
Sky Daddy by Kate Folk
The One by John Marrs
Out There Screaming edited by Jordan Peele
One of Our Kind by Nicola Yoon
I've posted reviews for almost all of these titles, but The One is a library book club pick and I'm attending my first library book club this week so I'm holding off on my review until then (sneak peek: I really liked it!) Two of these are from my physical TBR and it's been a relief to work my way through that list.
My goal is 52 books for the year, or one book/week. I didn't read anything in January, and I am working through reading my TBR. I'm planning on using March to catch up by reading the smaller books on my shelf, or double dipping physical and audio books.
I'm down 7.6lbs from the beginning of the Changing My Life in One Year series.
When I wake up, I consume protein and wait an hour and a half for caffeine. I have been tracking my calories and my micros, staying in a calorie deficit for the most part. An active effort is being made to move my body every day. Overall, I feel really good about where I am and I'm looking forward to making better changes for my body as the year goes on. Something has clicked in my head that tells me this is going to become a lifestyle change instead of the immediate need to lose weight and that's taken the pressure off. For example, one Sunday I just went for a walk around my neighborhood. I made sure it was 3.2m because I'm trying to prep myself for a 5k. I picked up a RedBull and just strolled because it got me out of the house, helped me get fresh air, I moved, and it was something that I wanted to do. That's what matters the most to me in this life-changing challenge.
Debt
The total of my credit card debt is down $1,518.50.
One of the biggest reasons I moved back home was to be able to pay off my credit cards and I feel really good about the progress I've made so far. If I stay on my planned trajectory, they should be paid off at the beginning of June. Then onto the next big financial step! I've been watching my spending: only buying things I need, ensuring I return things I don't need, etc. My only big extra expense this month has been my gym membership because my annual fees are due, but I have been going 3-4 times/week, so it's worth it to me.
Here's to March!! <3
